An Emergency Services District (ESD) is a local government created by voters in an area to fund fire protection, emergency medical services, or both. More than 300 districts are operating in Texas, and more are added at almost every uniform election date.

For the fiscal year 2022, Ellis County ESD #2 adopted a tax rate that will not raise more taxes for maintenance and operations than last year’s tax rate. The tax rate will effectively be decreased by 5.82 percent and will lower taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $4.97.
